Description

Welp, here she is! I admittedly made a dA mostly because of all the hype over this group haha :iconhighholt:

I think I'm about done with her :3

(Please be gentle, this is my first OC in a long, long long time)

EDIT: Made some tweaks to her personality description

[ Name]: Nicole Clark
[ Age ]: 17
[ Species ]: African Wild Dog
[ Birthday ]: March 27th

[ Gender ]: demigirl
[ Pronouns ]: she/her
[ Sexual Orientation ]: Asexual
[ Romantic Orientation ]: Polyromantic

[ Personality ]:

Nicole has a rather child-like mentality, minus the innocence and immaturity that often comes with it. She can be naive and absentminded at times, but she is far from that innocent little kid who apologizes if he says damnit. She just has no interest in some of the more adult topics and sometimes even feigns naivety out of her disinterest for the subject when things like innuendo pop up in conversation. Although, she can swear like a sailor if she wants to, especially when angry.

Growing up under the care of her single father, she was never pushed to be girly. She doesn't really care for stuff like dresses, doing nails, makeup, or any of the stereotypical girl things. If anything, she's kind of glad her mother was never a part of her life, cause dad told stories about how she was from a rich family and liked dresses and formal dinners and all that stuff. Logic dictates she probably would've pushed that onto her daughter, which is something Nicole envisions with disgust. To make a teal deer for this bit: with the freedom her dad gave, she was allowed to avoid any sort of conflict where she's being told what she's supposed to be and she doesn't agree with it.

Throughout her life, she has always been curious about anyone and everyone she ever meets. She can be rather nosy in asking so many questions, but she doesn't mean to. If you can befriend her, or rather if she manages to befriend you during a questionnaire about your life, she can prove to be a great shoulder to cry on, to vent your problems, and in general just rely upon for support. She aims to be the best friend she can be, because she knows what it's like to have friends who turn their back on you.

Throughout late middle school and high school up until this point, she had many a crush on girls. Sadly for her, she's never experienced any reciprocation or was too shy to ever admit her feelings. When she did admit, they were always either not interested or homophobes. So oftentimes she doesn't try to actually form a relationship when she has feelings for someone.

[ Likes + Dislikes ]:
Likes:
-Rainy weather
-Storytelling
-Puns
-Sleeping

Dislikes:
-Dishonesty
-Being the center of attention
-Being bossed around
-Bright lights

[ Hobbies ]:
-Videogames
-Reading

[ Extras ]:

-She is a tad chubby, as she can be an overeater.
-She wears her hair in pigtails so as to make her ears stand out less.
-To deal with a lot of the guys in her school, she had to learn self-defense techniques, mostly from other girls. Many of these involve textbooks.
-She had her ears pierced as a baby.
-She doesn't understand the concept of being "too old" for something; when she wears her hair in pigtails and plays videogames, she is sometimes told she should stop doing that because of her age. She doesn't understand it, nor does she care.

[ Hometown ]: Ghulport
[ Backstory ]: Born and raised in Ghulport by her father, her mother left when she was rather young. Her dad being a fisherman, she wound up going with him to work frequently. This was understandable given the gang activity, but sometimes a bit of a bore. To alleviate this, she often brought books with her, and later her dad bought her a Nintendo DS along with a few games, which she instantly fell in love with. The school she went to wasn't really spectacular, and she had a couple of issues with sexual harassment from male classmates.

She did have a handful of friends though, and in late middle school, she started to develop a crush on one of them. She wasn't sure how her father would react, so before making any advances, she asked him one morning what his thoughts on homosexuality were. His response was surprisingly positive, and he stated he didn't care what she identified as or what her sexual orientation was and that he would still love her. With that weight lifted, she then decided not to tell her friend anyways after overhearing her thoughts on gays. Bummer. Upon her friends discovering that she liked girls, many of them pushed her away. It hurt knowing they harbored such toxic homophobia, but at the end of the day, she figured it wasn't worth trying to get their friendship back if they were going to be that awful.

She mostly discovered her orientations and gender identity through the internet. The topic of asexuality came about when her friend asked what she found sexy in guys. Romance-wise, she finds romantic interest in various types of people, and would probably consider herself panromantic if she didn't have a preference for girls. As for gender identity, finding this definition of demigirl is what sold it for her: "Alternatively, demigirl can be used to describe someone assigned female at birth who feels but the barest association with that identification, though not a significant enough dissociation to create real physical discomfort or dysphoria..."*

Some days when she went to work with dad, she would help fish, and they would make casual conversation. She sometimes tried to ask about mom, but he was stingy about details. He did explain that she left to live elsewhere and started a family with someone else, though even he doesn't seem to know why. Sometimes he jokes its because she didn't like Ghulport and didn't want to eat fish all the time. Either way, Nicole isn't particularly fazed by the lack of a mother because she left so early in life.

When it came time to leave, she just barely managed to grab a bag with some clothes, her DS with its games and charger, and say farewell to her father before being rushed out the door. She was rather shaken up about it, to be uprooted so suddenly from her home, but tries not to show it. Instead, she tries to make casual conversation with the other passengers and maybe even make a few friends.

[ Roleplay Example ]:  (I dont exactly have anything that's not terribly old, so I made a sort of slice of life bit using this character and her father)
It was about three in the morning as her alarm started blaring. No school, dad's going out fishing, which means she has to come along. She groaned and started blindly smacking her alarm clock until she managed to hit the snooze button. Not even bothering to turn on the lights, she gets up and starts getting ready for another day out on the water. Donning a t-shirt and shorts, she enters the kitchen half asleep and sits down at the breakfast table, rubbing her eyes as they adjusted to the harsh light.

"Good morning Nicole!", her father said, "sleep well?"

    "Ugh, nope."

"Hahah, guess not, since your shirt is on backwards," he replied, as a bagel popped up from the toaster. "I'll get your bagel ready, go fix your shirt. Butter or cream cheese?"

"Both," she said as she went into the bathroom and adjusted her shirt. She came back and sat down to eat, her father sitting across from her. They ate in silence for a couple minutes, and then dad spoke up.

"So, do you have any big projects coming up for school?"

"The science projects are probably coming up soon, but my teacher hasn't said anything," she answered after taking a swig of her iced tea, "I don't know what I'm going to do for it, though.."

Side-note: I used to roleplay about...2 1/2 years ago, I would say, so my roleplaying skills are kind of rusty, apologies for that.
